For this month we’re going to take a look back at two films that made Mel Gibson’s career and became cult classics of the post-apocalyptic wasteland genre. Mad Max released in 1979 sees Mel Gibson as a cop called Max who sets out to avenge the death of his partner wife and baby.
Two years later comes Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior which sees Max agreeing to help a small civilisation living on a gasoline refinery defend themselves from a band of barbarians.
Both were directed by George Miller and May will also see a new addition to the saga directed by Miller – this time starring Tom Hardy as Max. Mad Max: Fury Road will be released on May 14th and in celebration of this the Light House Cinema will be having a double feature of the first two films giving you the chance to see them on the big screen. You can buy tickets here.
As always tweet or Facebook us to let us know your thoughts on either film and we’ll be discussing them here on Spooool.ie in early June and in our May podcast at the end of the month.
